The day has come were you don't need to pay for your right to use your computer virus free.
If you use Windows, you can now make use of Microsoft's free anti virus software called "Security Essential".
Microsoft Security Essentials is one of the lightest anti-virus solutions we found over the recent years.
Note that if you try to download this with "microsoft internet explorer", you might get to a page which says download not available. We don't know why this is but recommend you used Firefox or Google Chrome to get to the download page.
It works extremely well, as good as other anti-viruses, its free, and does not disturb you with any advertising or browser toolbars. Together with windows Firewall, this solution will protect your computer as well as any paid anti-virus without you needing to be a security expert.
You obviously need a licensed version of windows to use this product.
One thing we recommend is un-installing all other antivirus programs you may have already installed. To do this, go to control panel, "Add or Remove Programs", and go through the whole list of installed programs and un-install any anti-virus software you come across.
